Recent history
The Florence Park Community Association became an incorporated charity in 2014 (registered charity number 1159506). This did not change anything about how the charity is run or membership..
The association’s charitable objectives are to promote the benefit of the inhabitants of Florence Park Estate by associating together the said inhabitants and the local authorities, voluntary and other organisations in a common effort to advance - and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation and leisure-time occupation with the object of improving the conditions of life..The association manages the Florence Park Community Centre on Cornwallis Road to further these objectives.
At the end of 2018 the old Bowls club to the rear of the Community Centre building was demolished due to it becoming unsafe.
We now have a gorgeous and massive garden which has been opened up for hirers as well as utilised for our wonderful social Pop-Up evenings.
We are looking forward to planning a new building in this area in the future - in response to an added need in the community for more space and for our own needs to accommodate all that we offer to the community.
